E-Lab Hardware Setup

This page (as of now) is acting as the catch all for anything hardware related that is INSIDE the E-Lab/Drylab, this includes

ARS

Each lab has slightly different ARS configurations, this is a generalized description

Ensuring the deck cable with the components section has been secured in the E-Lab, setting the ARS on the workbench and gathering all additional connectors and wires

  • Connect the array input and depth gauges from the deck cable components end to the appropriate locations on the ARS

If applicable, connect additional headphone amps, power junctions, and GPS adapters

GPS Connection

Use serial cables to connect to the vessel’s GPS feed - work closely with the ET to configure if necessary, each vessel can be vastly different in GPS configurations, take detailed notes for your specific setup

Feed this connection into the GPS adapter (RSR232, Keyspan Tripp-Lite, etc) setup dependent

For further steps connecting to conputer and pamguard, see instructions here - nested link??

External Power Sources

Due to heavy electrical noise, some setups require acoustic systems to be setup on their own power sources as opposed to ship power Link to lab specific setup instructions
