Oregon State University


The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Ecosystem Resources Studies (CIMERS) and Marine Mammal Institute (MMI) at Oregon State University are world leaders in marine mammal and bioacoustics research.
They were involved in some of the earliest development to use gliders for marine mammal passive acoustic research and have conducted glider missions in many ocean basins for the U.S. Navy, BOEM, and NOAA.

Maria Vasilkin
Piloting Hefring Engineering Oceanscout Glider
Maria is a software engineer at the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics. She develops software for marine and terrestrial recorders for passive acoustic monitoring. Maria has been testing the PAM system on the Hefring Oceanscout gliders since they first acquired them in 2023, with plans to use the gliders for cetacean and fish monitoring projects carried out by researchers at their center.

Karl Boettger
Customer Support Application Engineer
Karl has over 21 years of experience in the Marine tech Industry, dating back to the Webb Research Corporation before it was acquired by Teledyne in 2010. Karl worked his way up through the company starting in materials management, then spent over ten years as a manufacturing technician building and testing Slocum Gliders.
In 2020 Karl joined the glider support team and his favorite part of the job is interacting with customers and helping solve technical challenges. Karl has assisted in customer trainings, deployments, and glider repairs all over the world.

Shea Quinn
Sentinel Mission Project Lead
Shea has over 15 years of experience in the subsea and marine tech industry, the past 5 at Teledyne. Shea is responsible for driving the product line for the Slocum G3S and Sentinel gliders, and bringing the voice of customers to the engineering and development process within the company.
Shea came to Teledyne Webb Research from Lockheed Martin, where he worked primarily as an Engineering Project Manager and Engineering Field Support lead for a variety of autonomous and remotely-operated subsea vehicle projects. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics at Villanova University and a Masters of Engineering in Systems Engineering and Project Management from Cornell University.

Cordie Goodrich
Slocum Glider Technical Support and Field Operations Manager
Cordie leads the Glider Support Team - providing customer training, testing new hardware and software, piloting, and supporting Slocum Glider users all over the world. Prior to joining the TWR team in 2020, Cordie was a Teledyne Slocum Glider customer – working at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences where she managed the Mid-Atlantic Glider Initiative and Collaboration (MAGIC) Lab.
Cordie spent a year with the University of California, Davis, doing Slocum Glider work in Lake Tahoe and Antarctica. She received her Bachelor of Mathematics from Washington College and a Master’s degree in Marine Studies from the University of Delaware

Camille Pierini
Technical Team Leader
Camille currently holds the position of Technical Team Leader, responsible for workload planning, team coordination, and ensuring the proper operation of the instrumentation fleet. He oversees maintenance, calibrations, equipment tracking, and the training of new team members. He also carries out service missions as a technician, ensuring high quality standards and timely reporting. In addition, he is involved in the operation and piloting of gliders, including their maintenance and the update of associated management tools.

Laurent Beguery
Laurent Beguery obtained his degree in Mechanical Design Engineering in 1998. During the first 15 years of his career, he worked at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), where he initially designed underwater seismic measurement stations for the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP). In 2018, he continued his career at the Technical Division of the National Institute for Earth Sciences and Astronomy (DT-INSU), where he initiated the use of underwater gliders for oceanographic studies in France.
In 2014, he joined the company ALSEAMAR, where he continued the design and testing of the first SEAEXPLORER glider and, together with his team, led the first sales of gliders. In 2016, wishing to further develop the use of gliders, he created the service of scientific studies, enabling companies and research centers to benefit from data acquired at sea.
JASCO Applied Science

JASCO specializes in passive acoustic monitoring and autonomous ocean observing systems. The OceanObserver, integrated onto a Teledyne glider platform, is designed to support long-duration monitoring and research applications.
In addition to environmental and scientific use cases, the system also has potential applications in maritime surveillance, including persistent monitoring through passive acoustic detection and localization.
